Deadlock over power sharing still delaying Latjor government formation

The deputy governor of the newly created Latjor State, Liec Alic Bang, said the formation of the state cabinet has not taken place because the government and opposition have not yet agreed on representation criterion.

Bang told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that they have only agreed on a total of 9 ministries, 5 for government, 3 for opposition and 1 for other political parties.

He further said the government had presented a proposal on power sharing to the opposition but they are yet to receive any response.

“We have accepted to give them more shares in the counties so they should also accept to allow us to have more ministries. Therefore, we expect to have more representatives in the state council of ministers. But we are still waiting for their response,” Bang added.

According to him, once the opposition agrees to the proposal presented them, the new state cabinet may be announced over the coming weekend.
