A senior opposition official quit the armed resistance movement led by former agriculture minister Lam Akol Ajawin complaining of a weakening of democracy in the group.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday, David William said he has resigned as Secretary General of National Democratic Movement (NDM) led by Lam Akol, alleging the leader undermines democracy in the movement.
William, who once worked as a leading member of National United Democratic Front led by Kornelio Kon, said he was “deeply concerned” by Lam’s failure to solve administrative issues in the opposition movement.
“There is no clarity in our work in the movement. All institutions are being controlled by the leader,” William said.
“I have decided to resign from my position as NDM Secretary General and member of the movement. I had been part of NDM from July 2016 until 24 July 2018,” he added.
The former rebel official said he decided to rejoin the political party led by Kornelio Kon which operates from the capital Juba.
