About 450 Darfur students studying at West Kordofan University in En Nahud have boycotted examinations because of the alleged indifference of the University’s management to solve security threats facing the students at the University.

The students had demanded security guarantees, release of Dr Sadig Nurein, the supervisor of Darfur Students Association, who was arrested on 16 January, as well as prosecution of the people who attacked them at the campus early this year.

In an interview with Radio Tamazuj on Sunday, the Secretary-General of the Darfur Students Association, Abdel Rafi Mohamed urged the Darfur Transitional Authority to intervene to resolve the issue of the Darfuri students at the university.

Mohamed noted students had submitted mass resignations to the university but their resignations were rejected.

“The management of West Kordofan University can only accept resignations submitted by individuals, not by a group,” he explained.
