Darfur clashes over cow result in 8 deaths

At least eight people were killed on Friday after armed clashes broke out in Buram, South Darfur between two Habbaniya clans after a dispute over livestock.

Taking place between the families of prominent Habbaniya clan members in Mameleh, local residents told Radio Tamazuj that the fighting had been instigated by a dispute over a stolen cow.

They claimed that the animal was stolen and slaughtered before police arrested those suspected as culprits.

However, relatives then reportedly stormed the police station and freed the prisoners, resulting in the deadly inter-clan fighting.
