Sudanese security forces arrested Sunday the chairman of a committee that is opposing the construction of the Dal Dam in the country’s Northern state.
Salah Abdul Rahman and two others were detained, according to Rahman’s family, from Ebrew town.
The relative said the other detainees were Sami Suleiman and Haffiz el Masiri.
Khartoum recently signed a framework agreement with the Saudi Arabian government to build three dams – el-Sharik, Kajbar and the Dal, despite objections from the local population.
