Cueibet County Commissioner Mayom Malek says the local prison is overcrowded with suspects in the absence of the district judge.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Malek said questioning of 22 murder suspects has completed but the accused have not been taken for trial because the judge has been on annual leave since August.
He said the local authorities have now sent some suspects to the state Supreme Court in Rumbek town due to the overcrowding.
Malek said he will go to Rumbek to speak with the State Legal Adviser and the Supreme Court in order to send judges to Cueibet to carry out rulings.
Separately, the county official said theft, murder, and looting crimes have reduced in the area compared to last year.
