Cueibet County Commissioner Marial Teng Cithiec is dead, the government of Gok state announced.
Commissioner Cithiec died at the Rumbek Hospital in Western Lakes State while undergoing treatment.
John Madhol Panther, the information minister in Gok State, told Radio Tamazuj that the commissioner died this morning.
“We send our condolences to the family, relatives and friends of Commissioner Cithiec. Cithiec’s death has left a vacuum in the government of Gok state,” he said.
He said arrangements for burial are underway.
Minister Madhol noted that the state government has declared 3 days of mourning in honour of late Commissioner Cithiec. “Work will resume on 13 April,” he said.
Cithiec, a colonel in the army’s wounded heroes department, was appointed as Cueibet county commissioner in April 2018.
