The Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring Mechanism (CTSAMM), has accused the SPLA-IO faction allied for former first vice president Riek Machar of killing its member in the vicinity of Wau town in January.

In line with the signed peace agreement, the CTSAMM is tasked with the monitoring of the implementation of the Permanent Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements (PCTSA).

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj today, Ruth Feeney, CTSAMM’s Strategic Communication Officer, said their investigation found that the opposition liaison officer Lt. Col. Al Fadil Meil Issa was killed by members of the SPLA-IO faction allied to Riek Machar in Wau town in January.

She described the killing as “politically motivated”, while calling on the relevant authorities to take action.

Ruth pointed out that the investigation into the killing of Al Fadil involved a special committee comprised of experts from the ceasefire monitoring body.
