A preparatory committee for the Civil Peace Conference to be held in Raja between the border tribes in the area has concluded that 6 December should be the first day of the conference. The decision came during a planning workshop.
Mohamed Adam representing the Rizeigat tribe in the planning workshop said that the workshop included representatives of Raja community led by Adam Juma Temsah and representatives of the Habbaniya tribe led by Abu Bakr Hamdoun and himself from Rizeigat. He also explained that they could not contact the Fellata border tribe in the area to participate.
From his part, Adam Juma Temsah said that the workshop addressed the main reasons that had led to instability in the border areas, and said that the issue was encroachment of the herders on the farmers’ land, besides the events in Bulbula in which the SPLA was attacked by elements of the northern tribes in the area.
Temsah said that in the workshop they identified 6 December as the date to begin the civil peace conference.
