National Security Service agents on Thursday shot and killed a 21-year-old man at Aru Junction, located along the Juba-Nimule highway, a church leader disclosed.
Aru Junction is in Jubek State and located about 90.5 kilometers from the capital Juba.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, the Archbishop of the Episcopal Church in Central Equatoria region, Paul Yugusuk identified the deceased as Sam Lado, a brother to the area chief. He pointed out that the motive behind the killing remains unclear.
“The security [officer] who shot the young man is part of the unit providing protection along the Juba-Nimule road,” he said.
The episcopal cleric revealed that the culprit was arrested, but doubts if justice would prevail.
Security officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
