Two police officers were arrested after opening fire on two civilians at a social gathering organized by the Awan County Commissioner in Akon area in South Sudan’s Gogrial State last week.
An eyewitness who preferred anonymity told Radio Tamazuj that the wounded civilians, one in critical condition, were taken to Aweil Hospital for treatment.
He pointed out that the motive behind the incident remains unclear. He noted that the two suspects were arrested and taken to Kaujok area for investigation.
For his part, Peter Matem Yak, Commissioner of Awan County Peter, urged local residents in a press statement to remain calm to allow the law takes its course.
