Criminals kill Somali trader in Wau town

A Somali trader was killed in an attack by unknown gunmen in Wau town in South Sudan’s Western Bahr al Ghazal state on Sunday. A trader in Wau told Radio Tamazuj that the victim was shot dead at his house. Afterwards shops were closed at Jou Market as traders protested against rampant insecurity in the town. The source said the incident stirred up fear among the traders in the area. This is the second recent killing of foreign traders in Wau.

South Sudan police to form special unit to protect refugees

Inspector General of Police Pieng Deng Kuol says that he will oversee ecreatin of a special police unit to provide protection to refugees in camps around the country. As quoted by Eye Radio, Kuol addressed refugees at Nyakuron Cultural Centre over the weekend asking them to be patient with their challenges. “When you are in other countries or other place you definitely will get difficulties, you will get somebody insulting you, you will get somebody making a lot of nonsense to you, please endure,” he said.

Motorcyclist shot dead in Wau

Unidentified armed attackers night shot dead a motorcyclist who riding along the Baggari-Wau road in Western Bahr al Ghazal on Friday. Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Wau County Commissioner Elia Kamilo Dimo confirmed the incident saying the citizen was shot near Tado villeage.

National Security officer detained in theft case

The National Security Service continues to detain one of their own officers at their Jebel headquarters suspecting him of having stolen money from the Office of the President. The officer was identified in press reports as 1st-Lt John Agou Wuoi. A committee was formed to investigate the matter.
