Crime roundup: Gunmen attack police in Rock City of Juba

Shootout with police

Gunmen exchanged fire with the 777 Police on Thursday night in Rock City, according to eyewitness. The incident occurred while the police unit was on a routine patrol to tackle crime in Juba. The attackers were not arrested.

Thief steals boda-boda in Munuki

One boda-boda was stolen in front of a house in Munuki Block B on Thursday night, according to the owner of the motorbike. The owner was drinking soda at 9:00 p.m. near his house when a thief stole the bike.

“I was taking soda just in a place near the house. I left it outside the place. After a half an hour I found it was not there when I came out,” the owner said.

Boda-boda related robberies have intensified in Juba recently. Authorities of the Juba City Council are reportedly urging SPLA Military Police to hunt motorbike robbers. Motorbikes found without proper documentation are being stopped these days in order to tackle boda boda related thefts.

Police arrest one suspected motorbike thief

Police based at the Juba police station near the main prison detained yesterday afternoon a man who was arrested for allegedly trying to steal a policeman's Senke motorbike. The suspect was found with a pair of scissors for cutting ignition wires of the motorbike so that it can be operated without the key.

The alleged thief sustained wounds in the forehead. The owner of the bike told police he fell while being pursued.

Meanwhile, another man has filed a case in the same police station claimng his car doors were broken on Wednesday when they were for lunch and his bag containing documents and computer was stolen.
