Trader killed in Juba, his shop looted
Gunmen killed a Sudanese trader in Juba on Tuesday and looted his shop. The incident happened last night in Hai Batari opposite to Gudele. “I heard gunshot at around 2 AM and was worried,” said one source who lives near the area.
“One woman told me she saw the dead body on the road,” another resident reported. The body of the trader was found on the road reportedly after he tried to defend himself. Most shops in Hai Batari were closed this morning as Sudanese traders prepared for the burial of their slain colleague.
Gunmen steal two commercial motorbikes in Hai Referendum
Two armed men stole two commercial motorbikes at Mourkwo in Hai Referendum after they opened fire at two motorists on Monday afternoon, a source said. The incident occurred at 3:30 p.m. when two armed men in SPLA uniforms fired two bullets at the commercial motorists. The attackers were threatening the motorists at gunpoint to hand them keys of their bikes. The robbers were seen on the stolen motorbikes running towards Lou but nobody could arrest them.
National Security personnel open fire on suspected thieves
A group of robbers exchanged fire with residents of Hai Referendum early Monday when they tried to break into a house that happened to be inhabited by members of the National Security Service. The attempted break-in happened early Monday at 4:45 a.m., according to local sources. One of the robbers was shot on his stomach and was arrested and taken to hospital.
Attempted kidnapping at Juba Market
Two men in plain clothes attempted to grab a Juba resident and force him into a vehicle with tinted windows yesterday afternoon at the western gate of South Sudan Hotel 2. The source reported that the men appeared to be either “criminals or government security operatives,” explaining that the men refused to identify themselves to the victim or to explain whether he was under arrest. The citizen managed to wrestle his way out and he fled the scene.
