Thieves steal 50,000 South Sudanese Pounds in Juba

Two thieves on a motorbike snatched 50,000 South Sudanese Pounds from a man exiting Ivory Bank in downtown Juba at noon on Friday according to eyewitnesses.

“They were ridding a boda boda when they forcefully took a bag full of money from the man,” said one eyewitness.

The criminals escaped and no arrests have been made.

Gunmen hijack NGO car in Gudele

Gunmen hijack an NGO vehicle on Sunday night after threatening to kill an aid worker.

The hijackers were three in number all armed with AK-47s. The incident occurred at 10 PM in Gudele Black 8 in Juba. The vehicle belongs to International Aid Services, South Sudan Program.

Last week gunmen attacked another NGO compound, ACF in Munuki, killing one staff. Attacks against NGOs are reportedly increasing in South Sudan according to aid worker groups.

Bank robbed in Eastern Equatoria state

Police are investigating a robbery that took place at Eden bank in Eastern Equatoria State. Thieves broke into the bank branch in Magwi County two days ago and shot dead a policeman guarding the premises.

The bank cashier told Radio Emmanuel on phone that the thieves parted with 159,720 SSP and six hundred US dollars.

Thieves had attempted to rob the same bank in May without success.
