Sudanese security agents are still carrying out a campaign of mass arrests of communist party members in Damazin town in Sudan’s Blue Nile state.
A source told Radio Tamazuj that the party’s secretary-general Suleiman Ali was arrested on Sunday along with another two members working for a printing press in the town.
This campaign comes shortly after the defense lawyers of the communist party raised a complaint to the prosecutor on the arrest of other party members recently, while other sources suggested that the arrest had something to do with a statement issued on the occasion of the anniversary of Sudan’s October Revolution.
Suleiman was picked up from his law firm forcibly, according to the same source.
Last week, a leading party member Ibrahim Musa was taken by security agents from his office at the National Authority for Forestry in the state, besides the arrest of another senior member of the party in the same area called Adel Mohammed Kriazi.
