Covid-19: W. Bahr el Ghazal receives over 4,000 vaccines

Health authorities in Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal State on Thursday received a consignment of more than 4,000 Covid -19 AstraZeneca vaccines.

Health authorities in Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal State on Thursday received a consignment of more than 4,000 Covid -19 AstraZeneca vaccines.

The vaccines are part of the country's second consignment of the vaccines from the Covid-19 Vaccines Global Access (COVAX) Facility which arrived in the country on Tuesday. 

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, the state Director-General of the ministry of health Dr. James Ambrose Uchin confirmed the arrival of the vaccines.

"Today, on 2nd September 2021, the arrival and reception of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 from Juba today and on behalf of the minister, I am here to inform the public that a large number of 4,760 doses have arrived in Wau airport,” he said. 

He adds, “we are calling upon those who took the first jab to come to Wau Hospital with their vaccination cards to get the second jab.”

Dr. Uchin also stated that the vaccines will be administered to all frontline workers, teachers, and the elderly who did not receive their first jabs.

This is the second batch of vaccines in the state, last June the state ministry received and exhausted over 2,500 doses from Juba.
