Health workers in Uror County of Jonglei State over the weekend started vaccinating the locals with Covid-19 vaccines as one of the prevention measures.

The county deputy health director, Khor Makuac, told Radio Tamazuj Friday that they launched the vaccination campaign after receiving 1000 doses of Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccines on Friday and that over 70 people had already taken the jab.

“The vaccination is ongoing well. Our locally trained vaccinators were able to reach out to 75 people over the weekend,” he said.

A resident, John Gatluak, applauded the extension of the vaccination campaign to Uror as a positive move by the government.

“I have been vaccinated. I am now feeling well although I developed side effects that lasted a few hours. We are happy with the vaccination,” Gatluak said.

For his part, Uror County Commissioner Tang Chatim applauded the health ministry for extending the campaign to the county and urged residents to take the vaccine, saying it is safe.
