South Sudan is expected to receive 151,000 doses of the Johnson and Johnson Covid-19 vaccines today from the United States government through the COVAX facility.

This is the first time the country will receive the American single dose Johnson and Johnson vaccines.

In a telephone interview with Radio Tamazuj on Monday, the Director-General for Health Preventive and Emergency Preparedness who doubles as Acting Incident Manager at South Sudan's Ministry of Health said, "We are receiving Johnson and Johnson vaccines tomorrow. It is a donation from the USAID through COVAX Facility. And we are expecting 151,000 doses of Johnson and Johnson vaccines."

The donation comes one week after South Sudan received its second consignment of the AstraZeneca vaccines from the government of France through the COVAX facility.
