South Sudan has recorded 14 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, COVID-19 Incident Manager Richard Laku announced on Wednesday.
This brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 2,021.
Of the 14 new cases, 9 are male while the rest are female.
The health official said the confirmed cases were from 164 samples tested by the Public Health Laboratory in Juba. Richard announced that the cumulative number of recoveries stands at 333, while the number of fatalities remains at 38.
He said that a total of 452 contacts that were being traced have been reached and that a total of 4,141 contacts have so far completed their mandatory 14-day follow-up.
Richard urged the public to follow government guidelines to curb the spread of the disease.
South Sudan has seen a rapid increase in the number of positive cases since the outbreak was first reported in the country in April.
