Churches in Maridi County prepare to reopen after months of closure following the coronavirus pandemic.
Bishop Moses Zungo of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan Diocese of Maridi told Radio Tamazuj that the churches will observe the ministry of health guidelines and measures for the prevention of the spread of coronavirus.
He said all ECSS parishes will resume public worship services from Sunday 6th September 2020.
“I am very happy today to send this important message to all believers of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan in Maridi for the official reopening of the churches as we received directives from the office of Archbishop and Primate of the Episcopal Diocese of South Sudan,’’ he said.
Bishop Zungo urged all religious pastors and religious leaders to ensure that all COVID-19 preventive measures and protocols are followed.
This comes shortly after the government eased restrictions imposed to combat the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. Mosques opened their doors to worshippers last week.
South Sudan has so far reported more than 2,500 infections and 47 deaths from the diseases.
