South Sudan’s constitutional court held another hearing on Tuesday in Juba on the case between impeached speaker of Western Bahr al Ghazal State Assembly Andrea Mayar and Governor Rizig Hassan Zachariah.
The former speaker claims that he was removed at an extraordinary state parliament sitting that did not meet quorum and that the governor interfered in the conduct of the assembly’s business.
Agok Makur, the complainant’s lawyer, told Radio Tamazuj the court adjourned the final ruling until 30 September. He pointed out that the presiding judge announced that the quorum was complete in Tuesday’s sitting.
The lawyer predicted the ruling will be in his client’s favour after lawyers defending the governor admitted three points in the plaintiff’s petition before the court. Agok noted his client had outlined five points in the petition.
