County commissioner detained in Gok State prison over escape of fugitive son

The Gok State High court on Tuesday has ordered the detention of the Commissioner of the State Headquarters James Aguer Dut at the state police headquarters in Cueibet.

The Gok State High court on Tuesday has ordered the detention of the Commissioner of the State Headquarters James Aguer Dut at the state police headquarters in Cueibet.

High Court Judge Hon. Bol Ayuel Akuei confirmed the detention of James Aguer Dut under the custody of the police for a period of seven day until he brings his son to the court.

The son had been jailed for killing somebody named Makol Abayok Muorwel but he later escaped.

Bol explained that James Aguer was the one who requested that his son Dut Aguer Dut be released on bail for medical treatment but unfortunately he ran away under the responsibility of his father.

“Aguer must face justice,” Bol added.

The Commissioner of Gok State Police Gen. Azuma Mangar has confirmed the detention of James Aguer Dut at the police prison as per the request written by the Judge of the State High Court, Bol Ayuel Akuei.

Last week, the immunity of the commissioner was lifted by the Deputy Governor of Gok State as per a request from the court to attend a case hearing.
