The South Sudan Council of Churches has organized a prayer event in Wau town in Western Bahr el Ghazal State on Sunday.
John Fabio, head of the council of churches in Wau, said during his sermon that they recommended peace prayers for the state government prior to any negotiations with armed groups in Wau.
Meanwhile, Bishop Justin Atiet called on the state government to support them by providing security to all citizens. He also urged the church to be neutral in its mediatory role in order to bring about peace in the state.
The religious leader pointed out that the church will definitely face enormous challenges in its endeavour to achieve peace and reconciliation in Wau.
