Corrected: Government car hijacked in Gudele

A vehicle with a government number plate was hijacked in Gudele Block 8 in the same area where an NGO vehicle was hijacked several months ago, according to local residents.

The incident occurred Friday night at 8 PM while a government official who is also a legal advisor was returning home.

While driving in Gudele Block 8 he saw a small vehicle parked just near the road. A few minutes later, two gunmen approached him at gunpoint asking him to get down and hand them keys of the vehicle.

“Get down and give us the keys or we will shoot you now,” one of the gunmen said. One of the attackers opened fire but the bullet did not hit the driver.

Nobody has been arrested. “This might be the work of a network of armed robbers which are active in Gudele,”one resident in Gudele said.

Correction, 12/1/2015, 13:15: An earlier version of this story stated that the government vehicle was recovered. This is not the case.
