Corporate delegation inspects environmental demage of Pariang oil fields

A delegation of the Greater Pioneer Operating Company (GPOC) visited Pariang County, Unity State to inspect environmental damage from oil fields abandoned at the start of South Sudan’s civil war in December 2013.

Pariang county commissioner Monylang Manyiel has linked a rise in diseases in the county to environmental pollution and oil leakages.

Delegate Chol Majong told Radio Tamazuj they have gone to inspect oil fields and pipelines. He added that areas close to the pipelines will be cleaned of grasses.

He pointed out that the company left Unity oil fields shortly after conflict erupted in December last year.
