Controversy over figures of flood-affected people in Blue Nile State

Figures of people affected by floods that hit Blue Nile state of Sudan recently are "contradictory". Mohamed Abdullah, a member of the “Nafir” popular solidarity campaign in Damazin, capital of Blue Nile, told Radio Tamazuj that numbers of the affected people in the state are uneven as the preliminary statistics carried out by the government and organisations indicate.

“Residents of Damazin have organised themselves and joined efforts to provide help to the affected citizens,” he said. “We will exert efforts to identify the real figures of the affected people in the state as a whole, to assess the damage caused by the flood, that would to facilitate provision of assistance to them,” Abdullah says.
