Over 200 students did not sit for their Secondary School examinations in South Sudan’s Maban County this year owing to ongoing conflict parts of Upper Nile state, said the county director of education.
Shaga Lal told Radio Tamazuj Thursday that the county had registered about 270 eligible candidates for exams, but the majority of them did not turn up for examinations on 27 June.
He said only 25 students sat for the exams because many families in Maban fled their homes due to the ongoing conflict in Upper Nile.
Lal accused organizations operating in the area of failing to support education, especially the provision of school supplies in primary schools.
