Citizens in Renk town in Upper Nile State have complained about contamination of drinking water supply provided by the government in the area.
Upper Nile Minister of Physical Infrastructure Garuach Akalkon said the state had approved an amount of 68,000 South Sudan pounds to solve the problem of drinking water problem since May.
The official added that the ministry is coordinating with the Urban Water Cooperation in order provide electrical services and clean water to citizens in Renk town.
Meanwhile, the Director-General of Electricity in Renk blamed a malfunctioned power generator, saying machines of the power plant were maintained since the country’s independence in 2011 but now the Sudanese company that maintained them is demanding $55,000 from the government.
