Citizens in Ad Daien town in Sudan’s East Darfur state have complained that prices of commodities are soaring on Monday which marks the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.
Several citizens told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that prices of commodities are soaring in the town, raising concerns that prices will continue increasing during the holy month.
A citizen said a price of a sack of sugar is 480 SDG in markets in Ad Daien town, while a sack of onion rose to 350 SDG, and one kilo of meat is 60 SDG.
Traders attributed the soaring prices of commodities to the falling value of the SDG against foreign currencies especially the dollar.
