Education is steadily declining in Kadugli town in Sudan’s South Kordofan State amid lack of teachers and schools, multiple sources said.
Sources told Radio Tamazuj that some classes accommodate over 80 pupils due to lack of facilities in the area. They said a workshop on education was held recently in an attempt to improve schooling environment.
A teacher said Kadugli locality needs at least ten primary schools and five secondary schools so it can accommodate pupils and students in a comfortable environment.
He pointed out that many teachers left their profession due to what he termed as “discouraging teaching environment.”
“Most of the teachers now are female, so this is problem also because there are boys,” he said.
