The health situation in Lueri area, which lies under the control of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), worsened due to lack of medicines in the Nub Mountains region, a health official has said.
Kamal Malak, a doctor at Lueri Hospital, told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday that the health facility had received over 9,000 patients over the past two months, saying most of the patients were suffering from malaria.
He complained of lack of medicines in the area of Lueri and its surrounding areas.
Malak, who is also the coordinator of the Nuba relief and rehabilitation development organization, said the hospital had received over 350 patients last week.
He called on health organizations to provide medicines in order contain the health situation before it deteriorates further.
