Kon Thon Mayen, the director general at the ministry of health in Abyei, told Abyei Today programme on Monday that the area is witnessing lack of drugs including life-saving drugs in health centers.

However, he said the region’s administration is working hard to provide medicines.

Kuol Deng Arop, a medical assistant at Mading-Jokthiang Health Center, said cases of malaria disease are on the rise amid acute shortages of drugs.

He pointed out that the government has not delivered medicines to the area for a long period of time.

The health system in the disputed territory of Abyei faces growing health needs and limited resources.
