Blue Nile refugees currently living at the Yusuf Batil camp Upper Nile’s Maban county are complaining about insecurity and harassment by the South Sudanese police in markets and on the streets.

“We are facing many challenges especially in terms of insecurity in the refugee camps. Also the South Sudan police are threatening the refugees in the markets and streets,” refugee Omda Hamid Joda said.

Joda told Radio Tamazuj that the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has trained a number of police forces to secure refugee camps and local citizens.

The refugees are demanding “full protection”from both the government and the United Nations.
