The local community in Tombura County of South Sudan’s Western Equatoria state has called for the expulsion of the SPLA forces from the area, following incidents of burning and looting of properties of the people last December.

Commissioner of Tombura County Juma Abdulla said the citizens are still calling for the expulsion of SPLA from his county. He noted the demands came after a meeting between the committees of peace and reconciliation with the citizens and SPLA forces in Tombura on Monday.

Abdulla added that the SPLA forces have acknowledged that they have destroyed the properties of the citizens. He said they are going to sign a peace deal by the end of this week.

The commissioner further urged the people of Tombura who fled to the bushes following the clashes last year to return to their homes.
