Local authorities in South Sudan’s Namurunyang State have complained about a shutdown in telephone communications network, saying it affected communication services for a week in the state.

Josphen Nakuru, Information Minister in Namurunyang State, told Radio Tamazuj that Zain, Vivacell and MTN networks have been off service for more than a week due to malfunctioned antennas, besides the shortage of fuel in the area, while calling on the network providers to solve the problem as soon as possible.

The official pointed out that they couldn’t buy fuel from Kapoeta town due to poor roads and rampant insecurity in the area.

“It is hard to communicate with the citizens and government inside and outside Kapoeta because of a shutdown in telephone communications,” said Nakuru.
