Yambio County Commissioner on Monday warned citizens against spreading false rumours, after an incident that caused panic in the capital of Western Equatoria State.

Kuze John Elia released an urgent statement that school children were sent to many schools in Yambio town because of rumours about misunderstanding among Fire Brigade officers, Anisa Radio reported.

He told journalists that the misunderstanding among Fire Brigade Officers at in Yambio Headquarters was misinterpreted and exaggerated.

The Commissioner added that the issue was resolved administratively in an amicable manner.

Mr Kuze urged the general public to resume normal duties, urging them to consult authorities instead of boosting fear and panic among residents.

Yambio Town Market, some Primary and Secondary Schools were temporarily closed, sending learners home panicking.

Unanimous source said he just closed his shop because people were running for undisclosed reasons.
