The commissioner of Lainya County has raised concern over the poor conditions of Lainya-Juba road affecting traffic flow in the area.
County Commissioner Augustino Kiri said many trucks transporting food items from Yei to Juba got stuck on the road over the past few days.
He appealed to the national ministry of roads and bridges to intervene on the matter ahead of heavy rains.
“It is a big concern because this place connects Yei River State to the national capital Juba. Most of the food items sold in Juba are transported from Morobo, Yei and Lainya.”
Augustino added, “In this place if heavy rains come then this road will be closed and there will be no trucks passing from Lainya to Juba.
The Yei-Lainya highway is considered under the management of the national government, he pointed out.
