The information and sports minister in South Sudan’s Lol state, Michael Mathok Waal has urged youth to promote peaceful co-existence through participation in football tournaments.
He made the remarks at a peace tournament, involving teams from Gok Machar, Majak Baai, Nyamlel as well as Marial Baai counties.
The matches were conducted as part of the state government’s plan to promote peaceful coexistence among the local communities.
Marial Baai defeated Gok Machar 5-3 in the final football match.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj Wednesday, Mathok said government was working hard to create a conducive environment for peace.
Another big tournament, the minister hinted, is planned for the future and that teams from all the18 counties of the state would be involved.
