Clashes continue in Nuba Mountains, rebels shell Kadugli

Fighting between Sudan’s army and the Sudan People’s Liberation Army-North rebels is continuing on various fronts in the Nuba Mountains of South Kordofan state.

Multiple sources told Radio Tamazuj that that four shells hit state capital Kadugli town on Wednesday morning.

SPLA-N spokesperson Arno Ngutulu Lodi announced their forces recaptured Agab area yesterday morning and that they besieged Karkraya area during the last two days.

Arno denied reports that the government forces entered Um Sardab area. The SAF spokesman had announced that the government forces took control of Um Sardaba and other areas including Agab and Mardis.

Arno admitted that they shelled Kadugli town, saying they hit Sama, Saraf, and Um Bataha neighbourhoods. He claimed the shelling was in response to government shelling of their positions in Kurungu area.

Local sources said nobody was hurt by the SPLA-N shelling in Kadugli neighbourhoods. Movements of government ambulances were seen between the Civil Hospital and Military Hospital and Kadugli Airport throughout the day.

Security agents prevented civilians from visiting to the military hospital in Kadugli town yesterday, according to the same sources.
