Sudan’s army reportedly clashed with the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) in the Nuba Mountains on Monday morning. The outcome of the clashes is unclear.
Fighting took place at Lofo in Kadugli Locality and al-Ehemer in Buram locality between 5:15 am and 8:00 am, SPLM-N spokesman Arnu Ngutulu Lodi reported in a press statement on Monday: “Our forces followed the enemy up to their trenches, and inflicted heavy casualties on them.”
However, Col. El Sawarmi Khalid Saad, the spokesman for the Sudan Armed Forces, announced in a press release that army forces repulsed an attack staged by “outlaws” on the area of al-Ehemer in South Kordofan.
According to Saad, only one SPLA-N soldier died while 22 were wounded in the battle.
