Mawa George Lazarus, Executive Director of Community Empowerment for Rehabilitation and Development organization (CEFORD) has called for an inclusive peace process to end the suffering of the people of South Sudan.

Mawa George Lazarus, Executive Director of Community Empowerment for Rehabilitation and Development organization (CEFORD) has called for an inclusive peace process to end the suffering of the people of South Sudan.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj from Yei town yesterday, Mawa George said women, children and the elderly in rural and urban areas in Yei River State are currently experiencing harsh humanitarian conditions due to rampant insecurity.

Mawa urged the East African regional bloc IGAD and the international community to intervene urgently and develop an inclusive political approach to bring an end to the ongoing conflict.

“At the end of the day, all of us are yearning for peace, the women, the children, and the people who are suffering in the bushes and others who are trapped in Yei and those who have crossed to other countries as refugees are all yearning for peace,” said Mawa.

“We are urging the parties to the peace agreement to find a political solution to this conflict,” he added.

The executive director pointed out that bringing all stakeholders on board is the only way to address the ongoing war in South Sudan.

“For me, it is better if all parties are brought on board through an inclusive process and look at how the agreement on the resolution of the conflict in South Sudan can be implemented. As long as we keep ourselves apart without coming together, this conflict will continue,” he said.
