Members of the newly created Lol State Legislative Assembly, appointed officials and civil servants have been on protest since last week due to salaries delay for the two counties of Aweil West and North.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Friday last week Lol State Parliamentarians’ Spokesperson Achak Thiep Thiep said these two counties’ staffs spent more than two months without payments.

He claimed that Lol State Governor Rizik Hassan had ordered Supervisor General William Anyuon Kuol to suspend wages of civil servants and political post holders.

The salaries of some staffs from the two counties were released while others were told that they would not be paid unless they report themselves to Raja, the capital of Lol State.

Another Member of Parliament of Lol State, Garang Mawein Mawein, confirmed that the government of Lol State has released some civil servants’ money but most staffs including parliamentarians were not allowed to receive their payments.

Staffs from grade 5-1 were asked to take their money in Raja while rest of staffs ranging from grade 10-17 were given their monthly payments in Nyamlel.

He said that this policy was difficult for the civil servants because transportation from Aweil West and North to Raja remains challenging.

Garang called for immediate accountability for the Lol State Governor Rizik Hassan and the Supervisor General William Anyuon Kuol.
