Civil servant implicated in sale of food for malnourished children in Gok State

Food for malnourished children which was brought by an international organization to Gok State from Rumbek has been allegedly sold away by a medical assistant at Abiriu health facility, according to local sources in the state.

A concerned citizen in Abiriu County of Gok state who preferred anonymity said that a case is opened against the medical worker by somebody who caught him selling food for malnourished children.

David Laat Majok, Head of Abiriu County Health Department confirmed the sale of the food saying it was confiscated by the CID department in Abiriu County. Laat Majok has added that the suspect will be taken to court for more investigation, and if he is found to have acted on his own, he will be dismissed from his position and the state ministry of health will be informed in order to take measures.

For his part, the accused William Wol Akuoc denied the allegation leveled against him saying that he is ready to go the court. Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel confirmed that the food is under police control until the case is taken to court.
