Citizens worry about impact of bad roads in Raja

Road conditions are deteriorating in Western Bahr el Ghazal’s Raja town, according to local residents.

Several people told Radio Tamazuj that big trucks and other commercial vehicles are no longer able to reach the town because roads have been washed away by heavy rains in the area.

Musa Shayib, one of the traditional leaders in the area, said the only way to reach Raja at the moment is on motorcycle. That has caused a jump in transportation prices, he said.

The situation could prove fatal, he said, because some patients are having a difficult time reaching health centers in the area.

A company has been hired to renovate the Boro Medina-Raja road, but work has not yet started.
