High prices in Pochalla County of Greater Pibor Administrative Area have prompted citizens to cry for help from the government, a source from the county said.
“People are tired of crying to the government who are doing nothing,” said one resident in Pochalla
A bag of sugar of 50 kg costs 1,200 SSP while a bag of rice of 50 kg is sold at 300 SSP. There is no flour in the market. A pole for making a roof is sold at 100 SSP.
Traders cited the high rate of dollar exchange as the source of the problem because high dollar prices makes it difficult to import goods. “Prices are either double or higher than expected, they tell you that dollar is higher,” another local citizen said.
