Citizens inside Malakal PoC call on warring parties to make peace

Displaced citizens inside the UN Protection of Civilian’s Site (PoC) in Malakal town in South Sudans Upper Nile State have called on warring parties to stop the ongoing war and initiate dialogue to achieve peace in the country.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, several displaced families said that they have been living in the camp for several years, amid dire humanitarian conditions due to lack of food and insecurity in the town.

“We don’t have peace and we are stuck here in the camp. We don’t move and even the women who go out to collect firewood for sale and to support their families sometimes they came back safely and sometimes they face dangers, so we need peace,” said one of displaced citizens.

The complaining families called on the government and the armed opposition group to bring an end to the ongoing war and make peace so that they can return to their homes.
