Citizens of al Nagraa area in the outskirts of Um Sirdiba in Um Durein Locality of Sudan’s South Kordofan State have complained of deteriorating living and health conditions in the area.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Yagoub Sura, chief of Muru tribe in al Nagraa area said there is shortage of food, adding that many citizens died because of hunger. He pointed that many citizens wants to cross into South Sudan to join the refugee camps there but they cannot because of the long way and shortage of food.
For his part, Samuel Karndus Angario, the medical assistant of al Nagra hospital told Radio Tamazuj there are shortages of drugs and medical equipment in the hospital amid spread of diseases especially malaria.
He added that it’s very difficult to transport the patients to Kauda Hospital, calling on humanitarian agencies working in health sector to provide assistance.
Meanwhile, Hanadi Mohammed who is working in al Nagraa area told Radio Tamazuj women are suffering in the area due to lack of healthcare especially pregnant women who deliver their babies without any medical assistance and the shortage of food especially for children and elderly people.
