Citizens in Raja reject 'Lol state' and appointment of Governor Rizig

Citizens of South Sudan’s Raja County have rejected to join 'Lol State' with Aweil West and North counties as Salva Kiir has ordered.

Many citizens who spoke to Radio Tamazuj yesterday also expressed discontent over the appointment of former Western Bahr el Ghazal governor Rizig Zacharia Hassan as the Lol state governor.

They said Rizig, who hails from Raja, was the governor of Western Bahr el Ghazal state for a long time, but he did not provide any services to the county.

"We reject him completely," one citizen said. "There is a fact in Raja that no one wants him, because he is from Raja and did not do anything for his people when he was the governor. He will not be welcomed."

Andel Wadaa, the chairperson of the organizing committee to welcome the governor, dimissed such complaints as "rumors." Wadaa told Radio Tamazuj that the organizing committee visited Raja and was welcomed by the citizens.

Wadaa said Governor Rizig is expected to travel to Raja in the coming days after returning to Wau.
