Citizens in Abu Karinka in Sudan’s East Darfur state have complained of shortages of drinking water in the area, which has a population of about 40,000 people.
A number of citizens who spoke to Radio Tamazuj from the area yesterday said the price of one drum of drinking water has reached 20 SDG.
They pointed out that the area has five sources of water shared by people and animals and only one of these sources was supported by the government.
One citizen said for one person to fetch water by himself it requires more than two hours queuing to get one drum of drinking water. The citizens called on the local authorities to find solutions to the issue of water shortages in the area.
